We are delighted to share the fantastic news that Pyrcroft Grange Primary School has been awarded the Eco-Schools Green Flag Award with Distinction for the academic year 25-26. This prestigious award recognises our outstanding commitment to sustainability, environmental action and embedding environmental learning throughout school life. Eco-Schools praised the way sustainability has become part of everyday learning across the school and recognised the positive impact our Eco Heroes have had in inspiring others to care for the environment. They also highlighted Ofsted’s comment that “All children are consistent with understanding of sustainability – this is above what is usually typical.”

Our Eco Hero Committee has worked tirelessly throughout the year to lead meaningful environmental initiatives and encourage the whole school community to take action. Eco-Schools particularly celebrated the success of our Green Wall, which the Eco Heroes helped to install and maintain. They also recognised the enthusiasm shown by every class in caring for their SuDS Planters and learning how managing rainwater can help reduce flooding while supporting biodiversity.

The Eco Heroes were also praised for their commitment to promoting sustainable travel. Through assemblies, pupil leadership and discussions with governors about the possibility of a Walking School Bus. Eco-Schools were equally impressed by our Green Week activities, where pupils explored topics including healthy living, wildlife, waste reduction and caring for our planet.

Our Eco Hero Committee should be incredibly proud of their dedication, leadership and passion for creating positive change. Their hard work has helped make Pyrcroft Grange a true Eco-School and has earned us the highest level of recognition: Eco-Schools Green Flag with Distinction. We look forward to building on this success and continuing our journey towards a greener and more sustainable future.
