Sports Crew

Surrey Sports Crew is a program that trains Year 5 and 6 pupils to become sports ambassadors for their schools. The program is run by Active Surrey and helps pupils develop leadership skills.

What does the program do?

· Helps pupils develop leadership, resilience, confidence, and teamwork

· Teaches pupils to recognise the skills of a good leader

· Teaches pupils how to work as a team

· Teaches pupils how to plan and lead activities in the playground

· Helps pupils understand the S.T.E.P. principle (Space, Task, Equipment, People)

How does the program work?

· Pupils participate in a three-hour training session led by Active Surrey

· Pupils support, plan, and organise a range of sporting activities

· Pupils help to run school sports days

· Pupils lead a variety of physical activities during lunchtimes

Why is the program important?

The program helps pupils become sports ambassadors and turn their interest in sport into a real responsibility.
