Autumn Term One
We have come to the end of our first half term in Nursery, and we are incredibly proud of how well all our Little Gems have settled into nursery life. Our returning children have come back ready to learn and explore, while our new starters have settled happily into their new environment and routines.
It has been wonderful to watch the children build positive relationships with the nursery staff and see new friendships develop and flourish. The children have spent time exploring the nursery environment, becoming familiar with the different areas of provision, and learning the routines and boundaries that help keep everyone safe and happy.
During our group times, we have been focusing on learning nursery rhymes and number rhymes. Nursery rhymes play an important role in early language development, helping children to become familiar with the sounds, rhythms, and patterns of language. Through repetition and rhyme, children develop their listening skills, build vocabulary, and strengthen the foundations needed for future reading and writing. We encourage you to continue singing nursery rhymes at home and enjoy sharing these special moments together.
In our maths sessions, we have been exploring colour, matching, and sorting. The children have shown great enthusiasm for these activities and have become increasingly confident at recognising colours, matching objects, and sorting items into different groups. They have loved investigating and learning through hands-on play.
The children have also thoroughly enjoyed the weekly visits from Marly and Ellie. Marly, our Wellbeing Woofer, visits each Tuesday afternoon with his owner to share stories with the children. These sessions have become a firm favourite, with the children eagerly looking forward to his visits each week. They have also developed a good understanding of how to behave safely, calmly, and respectfully around dogs.
We are extremely proud of everything the children have achieved this half term and look forward to watching them continue to grow in confidence, independence, and curiosity in the weeks ahead.
