Science and Maths Week

Maths and Science Week – February 2021:

To celebrate all things Maths and Science, this academic year these subjects teamed up for an action-packed, hands-on week that was celebrated across the school during the week before half term. The children had the opportunity to explore exciting science experiments and observations, using their maths skills to compare and record data and information.

Through engaging online lessons, children were encouraged to delve into a range of mathematical and scientific concepts linked to their year groups’ curriculum, whilst also taking part in the RSPB’s Big School Birdwatch – the world’s largest wildlife survey.

Whilst you would think that the school closures would make the activeness of this week a challenge, through the fantastic support of our parents and school community, the children were able to dress as mad scientists and conduct impressive experiments. These included, launching rocket mice, making lava lamps, testing the properties of materials and building bird feeders. A huge well done to everyone that took part.
