Physical Education

At Pyrcroft Grange we believe PE and sport play an important role in making our values a reality for every pupil, with the potential to change young people’s lives for the better.

Our curriculum is well planned and in-line with the national curriculum to ensure that pupils have a broad, varied and relevant learning experience in each year group.  Lessons are sport specific and include tennis, football, dance, gymnastics, orienteering, tag rugby, athletics, netball and rounders.  Our PE Coordinator uses detailed schemes of work to develop every child’s skills, ensuring progression and making achievement possible for all.

In addition to PE lessons, we also have several lunchtime and after school clubs, including athletics, football, dance and netball.

Each year we hold a sports day for all the children and have young leaders from Jubilee High School who assist and encourage the children on the day. Children in Years 4, 5 & 6 represent the school at football in the local schools league as well as Years 3 & 4 in mini tennis. Children from KS2 also compete in District Sports taking part in various athletic events.

Our school endorses ‘healthy lifestyle’ schemes offering a ‘Change4Life’ sponsored activity club and collecting tokens from Tesco and Sainbury’s to improve and increase equipment we have on offer in the school.

Pyrcroft Grange values sport and appreciate how it forms an important platform to support learning across each subject area.

All pupils in Year 4 are given, and encouraged to take up, the opportunity to participate in a block of weekly swimming lessons each academic year.

We travel by mini-bus to Spelthorne Leisure Centre where the children have lessons with competent and qualified swimming teachers.
