Library, Bus & Bug Club

Our school library offers learning services, books and resources that enable and encourage every child in our school to access information to help them develop an on-going love of reading and learning.

We offer:

  • a range of stock to reflect the whole curriculum
  • collaborative planning between teaching staff and the librarian
  • use of the library in curriculum planning and schemes of work
  • collections of resources for topic teaching
  • texts to support literacy across the community
  • fiction to support curriculum topics

Every class comes into library once a week and children are encouraged to borrow books – as long as they are returned.

Library Bus

Reading for pleasure is really important as “Great readers become great leaders”.  Bessie is our double decker bus, which is parked up on the playground and has been transformed into a library bus. To continue to promote the love of reading for pleasure is has with a wide collection of books for all abilities to enjoy which have been kindly donated by family and friends of the school.

Each day children board the library bus and share the enjoyment of reading books independently and with their friends as well as guided reading sessions.

Bug Club

Since we launched Bug Club in early 2016 it has become an increasingly popular way for the children to have fun while reading at home. As well as access to lots of different books, bug club also challenges the children's comprehension skills throughout the books. As the children read books they earn coins and can use these to customise their home page.
